ForeTrade Technologies has released a Genetic Pattern Finder, which as its name implies uses the power of genetic algorithms to detect winning patterns in any financial issue. www.foretrade.com/gpf.htm The G.P.F. runs as a Microsoft Excel'97 or Excel 2000 Add-in, and includes the Ward Systems GeneHunter genetic algorithms runtime library. Experienced financial traders know that the best trading signals are those which work in all kinds of markets. Trending signals generally fare poorly in range bound markets, and overbought/oversold indicators perform just as badly in trending markets. We believe that the best approach to trading markets is to use only non linear indicators, using for instance breakouts and patterns in conventional technical analysis, as well as neural nets and wavelets (although there has been a lot of hype and disappointment about these too). This G.P.F. will find optimal patterns to trade with, and/or to generate neural nets inputs from. A sample pattern can be for instance: If High[4] > Low[2] and Open[0] > Close[1] and WeekDay = Monday Then Sell on Next Open. Upon completion of the genetic process, the G.P.F. will have found the best patterns, will display statistics, and chart an 'Equity Curve' and 'Trade Distribution' for analysis purposes.
